ENERGY CRISIS IN PAKISTAN

The world population is increasing day by day, which ultimately cause the energy

imbalance. Because, the energy consumption also increases up to that level as the

population level increases,. Pakistan is also among those countries which is facing

the energy crisis due to difference between demand and supply power. From

2009 to up till now Pakistan needs 20,000 KW power per day but our energy units are producing only 11,000 KW per day, which finally leads towards load shedding of long hours especially in summers not only for citizens but also for the industrial sector. This energy crisis ultimately goes towards financial crisis due to shut down of all industries. So, it is the need of the hour to find the root causes of this crisis and then find a perfect solution of them.

These are the main causes of energy misbalance

1) Insufficient number of installed generators

2) Poor transmission system of electricity

3) Heavy load on power grid stations

4) Failure in planning for future energy needs

5) Use of old and discarded technology of power generation, which lead us

towards failure.

Pakistan’s government now starts new energy projects with Iran and other

countries. There are many ways that help to get sufficient power at easy cost that are To avoid the extra use of energy at the public level

It is our common practice that at home and if we are shopkeepers of

1) jewelry or cosmetic shop, we leave lights and home appliances working

even when we are not using them. Shopkeepers' use extra fancy light only

to increase the decoration of the shop. These are in look are small

mistakes, but if they are done on a large scale, they cause a huge level of

energy problem in the country. So, if you want a constant energy supply

then use energy saving appliances and leave a lifestyle of TV, Desktops,

Microwave and Air conditioners to reduce the extra consumption of

energy. All these luxuries also can create the pollution in the environment

To maintain a government policy that will remain constant either

government change or not.

As the government changes in Pakistan, the new government stops all the

plans that previous government has started which cause always the

incomplete projects in energy sector.

Hydel Power:

After the India Pakistan partition, Pakistan only gets 10.7MW, which was very low.

After years passing Mangla and Tarbaila Dam improve the rate of production of

power. But as the years increase India gets a hold on the water supply of major

rivers that comes from Kashmir by making dams on them to force to Pakistan

towards severing energy and water crisis. So, it is the need of the hour to make

more dams, without wasting more time in discussion and debates, which can

generate more power and our water crisis, also remove.

Thermal Generation:

Pakistan is among fourth in the world that has the maximum number of coal

resources. Pakistan has 185 billion tons of coal reserves to utilize for the

generation of power. Coal to the energy production system is cheapest energy

producing system which we can easily afford. At present Pakistan is producing

0.75% electricity from coal, but it will increase up to 40% as most of the countries

1) in the world are producing 50% of their power by using coal.

Nuclear Power Generation:

Pakistan is among the atomic powers of the world. So, it is another better way to

produce the power by using the nuclear energy. Japan, China and India are

producing 8800 MW nuclear energy by installing 10 Nuclear power plants. But

Pakistan is producing only 220MW from nuclear power plants which can be

increased. Now the Pakistan with the help of China is getting the technology of

conversion of uranium into electric power at reasonable cost by removing all

nuclear wastes.

Renewable Energy:

Pakistan has the abundant resources of renewable energy. But we are using it not

sufficiently so we get only 0.21% of total energy. But it can be increased by
